How do I know the tension setting on the xCORE spring cores?
The xCORE spring cores do not have a built-in tension indicator. Instead, follow the range guide below. To reach the lower end of the tension range, reduce the tension by 40 turns (40 mm).
How should I store the xCOREs when not being used?
If the arm will not be used for several days of shooting, it is recommended to reduce the xCORE tension before storage. You can unscrew the spring cores by 40 turns, or fully relax them for the best possible long-term lifespan.
Where should I place the xCORE spring cores if I use only one per arm section?
If you use only one xCORE spring core per arm section, for a total of two xCORE spring cores on the arm, they must always be installed in the upper bones of the PRO arm. Never place one xCORE in the upper first section and one in the lower section of the arm.
How should the spring cores be aligned?
Always make sure the rubber elements are aligned flush with the top and are not twisted at unusual angles. If needed, adjust them with a simple twist using your Allen tool until they are correctly aligned. See video 3 and 4 above.
Does the xCOREs change the boom range of the arm?
Yes. Since the xCORE spring cores do not have a physical stop like the PRO canisters, the arm gains slightly more boom range and a steeper angle at both the high and low ends of the boom range. Because of this, it is important to make sure your bumpers are in good condition.
How does tension affect iso-elastic performance?
Iso-elastic performance improves at higher xCORE tension. In general, the more the xCORE springs are extended, the better the iso-elastic behavior, similar to how the PRO canisters work. To get the performance and feel you prefer, use the correct spring configuration and refer to the range guide below.
How should I lubricate and maintain the xCORE spring cores?
The lubrication shown in the video is the quick lubrication method. You can also spray 303 through the thread hole where the long screw is inserted, which helps the lubricant reach further inside the rubber elements. For a more complete cleaning and lubrication, remove the covers, apply 303, and then reinstall the covers. See video instructions above.
How often should I lubricate the xCORE spring cores?
For quick maintenance, spraying 303 once every 2–4 weeks is recommended. For a more complete cleaning and lubrication, service the unit every 6–8 months.
What spring configuration should I go with for best performance?
For best performance always use the configuration towards the top range of the extension of the xCORE as the lower range gets more springy.
